Post-Tropical Storm Arthur is causing widespread and potentially catastrophic flooding across the southeastern United States.
A Level 4 out of 4 flash flood threat has been issued for Thursday, with a Level 3 out of 4 risk extending into Friday.

Why It's Important?

The flooding poses a severe risk to millions of residents across the Southeast, particularly in Baton Rouge, Jackson, Montgomery, and Atlanta. The heavy rainfall could lead to deadly flash floods, with water levels rising rapidly in low-lying areas. In addition to the flood threat, a Level 2 out of 5 severe storm risk remains for coastal Mississippi and southern Alabama, where isolated tornadoes are possible. The situation is life-threatening, with significant property damage and travel disruptions expected.
